The Castro-Balbi/Lin Duo is unanimously hailed for its sensitive, passionate, and imaginative performances. Together, the husband and wife team redefines the collaboration of two artistic personalities, and creates a new balance in the relationship between the piano and the cello. The Duo brings interpretations that communicate energy, style, and a dramatic spectrum of colors.

Of multi-cultural heritage, the Duo is quickly developing a multi-national following, regularly touring the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Highlights of upcoming and most recent appearances include National Public Radio’s Performance Today; Chamber Music America’s 25th Anniversary Marathon Concert at Symphony Space, WNYC’s Soundcheck, Alice Tully Hall, and the Noonday Concert Series at Trinity Church in New York; the Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada; SummerFest La Jolla; the 4th International Chamber Music Festa in Osaka, Japan; the XIV International Music Festival in Morelia, Mexico; the Carlos Chavez Hall in Mexico City; China, France, Perú, Venezuela; and a residency as Artists/Faculty at the 2002 and 2003 Amati Music Festival in Hunter, New York.

The Castro-Balbi/Lin Duo’s presentations embrace old and new masterpieces, revisiting standard favorites and expanding the repertoire with music of our time. This season, the Duo presents the French premiere of Fantasía by Samuel Zyman, the US and Mexican premieres of Duo by Joan Guinjoan, and of Toccata & Misterio by Esteban Benzecry, who also wrote and dedicated Rapsodia Andina to the tandem.

Pianist Gloria Lin was born in Taiwan, and moved to the US as a teenager to attend Juilliard, Manhattan School, Michigan and Indiana Universities. Originally from Peru, cellist Jesús Castro-Balbi was raised in France and came to the United States to study at Juilliard, Indiana and Yale Universities.
